This is a hugely underrated movie. It's a bit slow during the first hour, but the second hour really picks up. I enjoyed all the performances, the directing is very Spielbergian, and I thought the screenplay was pretty provocative. It brings up a lot of issues that are relevant for today (using fear to win over a population... cough cough Bush).
I think M. Night Shamalamadingdong is on to something.
