This has to be the only country on earth that gives a shit if someone is early or late to court. That being said, did ya notice he was early today???? I'm sure it will top the news as the media couldn't possibly be bothered with covering the school shooting that took place yesterday in Minnesota.

Jen, this is your sister. I must clarify about the being late to court thing. It's not just an American thing. It makes perfect sense. Michael Jackson is someone who has been indicted on felony charges. A judge set a bond, which he posted, however has a provision of being out on bond (as opposed to poor people who can't post bonds and just sit in jail during their trials) is that he has to show up at every court appearance at a specific time. If he does not, it is a violation of the terms of his bond, which could then be revoked and he sent to jail. This is standard operating procedure to make sure that people who have been indicted actually show up and don't flee the country or stay home and watch TV instead of going to court.
However, the media does tend to get excited about it, but then again if he is late and the judge revokes his bond that means MJ goes to jail. That would be huge news.
I've sat in many a courtroom watching defense attorney frantically try to get their wayward clients' asses into the courtroom -b/c the whole freaking trial comes to a screeching hald AND WASTES JURORS' TIME.
It's not just some random thing we do in the USA.
