Will She Promise Not To Procreate, Too?
Britney Spears may be staying mum about married life for awhile. The pop princess is miffed about personal details that appeared in a new Allure magazine article – details that Spears told the magazine herself. (uh, duh!!!!!!)
In a statement on her Web site, Spears says the article devotes too much attention to her personal life and her past, and says that from now on she will watch her tongue. " In the future, I will refrain from discussing my private life in interviews," she writes.
In the article, Spears confided that she and husband Kevin Federline had experienced a cold-water moment shortly after their wedding. " We hit a little bit of reality, hardcore, after the first three weeks," Spears said. " Before we got married we were on tour, and we were just like kids, ordering room service, saying 'Let's go out tonight.'" But the young couple hit a gut-check after the tour ended and they returned home, faced with caring for Federline's two young children (Kaleb and Kori), attending to daily chores, and living a life of (relative) domestic simplicity. " Like omigod, I have to tell the maid to buy diapers and get the pool boy to walk the dog? Can't I just make out with Kevin all the time?" she told the magazine. " Being married sucks." (is this for real? tell the MAID to buy diapers and the POOL BOY to walk the dog?)
Now, Spears says on her Web site: " I feel the article focused too much on my personal life and various events from my past. I've already dealt with these issues with the support of my family and friends and have fully moved on."
--Personally if I never hear or read about Britney Spears again I would be eternally grateful. She is a waste of space on this earth.

Best TV Themes Ever
Sopranos and Six Feet Under made the top 100, but any list without the Growing Pains or Family Ties theme songs doesn't deserve any more mention.
Breaking Idol News
Fan favorite Mario Vazquez withdrew from "American Idol" on Sunday, and producers called in the son of a baseball Hall of Famer as backup. Vazquez, 27, cited "personal reasons" for his withdrawal and no other details were available, Fox announced in a statement. The New York City singer, who works with emerging musical artists, had been picked by many fans and three fellow finalists as a favorite to win the competition. Fox bumped Nikko Smith, the son of baseball great Ozzie Smith, into Vazquez's spot because Smith got more votes than Travis Tucker when both were voted off Wednesday, the network said.
On another site I found information saying that Vazquez may have withdrew due to rumors he's gay. On message boards and blogs there has been much speculation regarding his sexual orientation.

It's Still Pilot Season
A snapshot of what you may, or may likely will not, be watching next fall:
Peter Facinelli will star in ABC's drama pilot "Westside." He'll play the leader of a team of Realtors at an upscale agency specializing in high-end homes on Los Angeles' Westside. I know a little bit about high-end homes on the westwide. I looked for condos a year ago and found a two-bedroom in Santa Monica for the low price of $480,000. Same condo this year? Probably about $600,000. People have too much money here, and I hope this drama makes fun of that.
Pussy is back! Vincent Pastore will lead on NBC's drama about an old-school Italian family that owns a deli in the North End of Boston. Cool, but I bet his name isn't Pussy no more!
David Conrad joined CBS' pilot about young newlywed (Jennifer Love Hewitt) who communicates with the dead. I wonder if she'll be able to communicate with her other three pilots that were thrown in the trash. She's not having much luck getting a TV show.
Timm Sharp has nabbed the lead in NBC's "Early Bird," playing a writer who is fired from his dream TV writing job and finds himself chilling out at a retirement village. I wonder if that's foreshadowing for the writers of this show.
Brady Smith is set to co-star in CBS' "Everything I know About Men," as the boyfriend of a female ad agency executive. I don't know who Brady Smith is.
The WB Network has cast newcomer Nathalie Kelley and Geoff Stults as the two leads in its untitled mermaid drama pilot. Australian-born Kelley will play a mermaind who tries life on land in Miami. Well, this sounds intriguing! Kind of a remake of Splash, which was soooo good when I was 7.

Swanky
Hilary Swank is apparently challenging a fine she received for bringing an apple and an orange into New Zealand. I read this and immediately thought, "why is this a story?" And then I went to CNN.com and they had a poll asking readers if she was correct for challenging the fine. Michael Jackson doesn't come to court in pajama pants so this is the only story they could find?
Shawshank
How is that after 11 years and at least as many viewings, I always find myself in tears at the end of this movie. I don't think there's another movie out there that deals with male plutonic friendship quite as effective. Maybe Good Will Hunting.
KCRW Sounds Eclectic Concert
I had a great night at the Universal Amphitheatre last night. I saw three bands before Coldplay: Van Hunt, Cafe Tacuba and Paul Buchanan. Van Hunt was kind of like a band you would see perform at a wedding or prom. They were good, but I thought they were not very original. A lot of people liked them better than I did. Paul Buchanan was good, maybe drunk, but a good musician. It was very singer-songwriter-y which i totally dig.
Cafe Tacuba. Wow. I have never heard of them before. They are a "rock en espagnol" band from Mexico City and they blew me away. They are kind of a mix between System of a Down, Rush and Rage. I'm going to go buy all their CDs.
Coldplay. They played a few new songs. HEAVY guitar. I really really liked a few of them, and I'm anxious to hear them on the album. Chris Martin is really a great performer, with a really goofy sense of humor (he sang The Scientist backwards!). My favorite moment was one that most people probably didn't catch. They had large video screens projecting the various band members. At one point, the drummer peaked up at it behind him mid-song, saw Chris Martin on the screen, turned around and gave this look like, "Wow, I can't believe that I'm here." It was very real and probably proved what I have thought all along... these guys are really down to Earth and real. Coolness! Can't wait for the new album.
Also, men with mustaches should generally not dance.

Excuses, excuses....
Since Mr. Jackson seems to have a lot of alleged issues, health among them, I thought I'd help him with a few suggestions he could use in the future when he's trying to avoid showing up at court.
"I'm hung over from too much Jesus Juice"
"Can we delay court just one day? I'm having some friends over"
"Look at that... my nose just fell off"
"Damn, someone just poked my eye out with the umbrella"
"Sorry, can't make it today Judge... can't miss my bleaching appointment"
"All my gawdy, military-style accessories are being cleaned"
"I stubbed my toe"
"I have a note from my mom"
"I'm car sick"
"The sun is shining"
"It's raining"
"My hair straightener broke"
"I'm depressed because I didn't share my bed with any young boys last night"

Rollergirl
From E!:
"Per the Hollywood Reporter, Heather Graham set to star in the ABC pilot Emily's Reasons Why Not, playing a self-help author who doesn't take her own advice when it comes to dating."
Normally I would make fun of this, but she's been so good on Scrubs and Arrested Development...

A Girl Named Jenny
"Former Baywatch star Michael Bergin has been sent to jail for 30 days after being found guilty of a felony drink driving charge. The actor and former Calvin Klein model left professional rollerblader Jenny Armstrong with broken bones after he drove into her at a busy West Hollywood cross-section on the fifth anniversary of his famous ex-girlfriend Carolyn Bessette's death."
Hold on a second.... professional rollerblader???
Michael Jackson Trial
I have been soooo not interested in this, until yesterday when he showed up in his PJ's. Did anyone see the E! reenactment?
Not a bad way to start the day...
No, I'm not talking about nearly getting hit by a car this morning. Seriously, what part of pedestrian right-away, especially when you are trying to make a right turn across a cross-walk, do you not understand? I'm starting a tally because this happens about 3 times a week. I love LA.
I'm talking about an email I recieved from Coldplay:
"Coldplay's new album X&Y will be released by Parlophone on 6th June, preceded by the single Speed Of Sound on 23rd May."

Survivor Recap
From ET:
On ''Survivor,'' Ulong continues its historic losing streak, getting dumped on in both the bathroom-building contest and the immunity pillow fight by Dalton Ross
''It feels terrible having my butt whupped by a homosexual, you know? But a lot of gay folks are strong, man — they all working out at the gym and all.'' That's James. Such an enlightened fellow. He's talking about Coby, a man who (also according to James) ''got some ass behind him'' and used said ass to destroy the self-proclaimed redneck in the immunity challenge. But, truth be told, James, you had your ass kicked all episode long. You — a steelworker, I might add — allowed a team led by a dolphin trainer to beat you in constructing a beachfront bathroom. (Last time I checked, dolphin trainers didn't have much use for hammers, unless they were dolphin trainers . . . from hell!!!)
Then Coby publicly humiliated you — twice! It got so bad the women even considered voting you off instead of worthless Kim. Remember when you promised at the start of the episode to stomp on anyone who was lagging? Well, dude — you're lagging.
Like most of this season so far, this last episode was all about the challenges. I've never made secret my displeasure with subjective challenges like the build-a-bathroom one. The only two good things I can say about it are that at least it was only for reward and at least it was better than the deathly boring build-an-SOS-message one that recurred in early Survivor seasons. Still, these challenges rarely provide any sort of drama (although am I the only one who got a bit nervous watching Bobby Jon swing an ax?). I also could have sworn that was Mark McGrath posing as Survivor production designer ''Jesse,'' but maybe that was just me. I must confess I sorta think Ulong should have won that challenge, if for no other reason than scribbling ''For a good time, call Jeff Probst'' on their toilet seat. Splendid attention to detail on that one.
Thankfully, the immunity challenge was a tad more lively. A tad? Who the hell am I kidding? I swear, if this season of Survivor has taught me anything, it is that John Kirhoffer, the challenges producer, will not be entirely satisfied until someone dies on this show. What the hell is going on here? This season has been brutal — and I like brutal. I figured the younger and stronger Ulong would take this one pretty easily, and even the individual matchups seemed to favor them. I mean, Tom is the man, but I didn't think he stood a chance against the psycho man-beast that is Bobby Jon, but he took him down twice! Gregg managed a split against the towering Ibrehem, and even Janu won her match against Kim. (Did we mention Kim was worthless?)
And then there was Coby. Now, Mark Burnett is no dummy (insert your own Commando Nanny joke here). Of course he was gonna pit the redneck against the flamboyant homosexual. I know there have been a lot of Coby haters posting on these message boards, especially from homosexuals worried that he's coming off as a caricature, but respect is now due. (Especially after he flashed the heavy-metal sign after winning.) He manhandled (no, not in that way) James not once but twice, sending Ulong to their fourth straight immunity defeat — which I believe is a new Survivor record. As a result, there is no way Burnett won't mix up the tribes again on Wednesday (yes, Wednesday) night's episode. As good as this season has been (call it the anti-Vanuatu), it will all come crashing down if we get stuck with a month-long string of predictable vote-offs, which will certainly happen if things stay as is and Koror picks off Ulong post-merge.
I haven't said much about Kim, but honestly, what is there to say? She came, she cuddled, she got voted off. Much like Ashlee and Jeff, she didn't even seem bothered to go, which has been the season's one glaring weakness. Maybe if she had joined some of the so-called gay folks working out at the gym before the show, she might have been more physically ready to handle the rigors of Survivor. But probably not.
--I thought it was worth pointing out that James has got The Biggest Nostrils in the history of mankind. Has anyone else noticed this?

COURAGE
Again, from Gawker:
Aw, Dan. Courage? You Shouldn't Have!
Well, Dan Rather's final broadcast at CBS news was more heartfelt than a Arkansas armadillo in a barrel of blue yarn - until he went back to that damn courage thing, couched in invocations of September 11th, soldiers and journalists abroad, and, yes, the tsunami. Everything always comes back to the tsunami.
On the bright side, a CBS staffer writes in with an account of the post-broadcast festivities:
Cracking open the Veuve, staffers were also sure to have a case of wild turkey bottles because that's Rather's apparent drink of choice. He toasted Heyward (drinking champagne) and took a hearty chug before hearing the staffer's anecdotal speeches about him.
There's nothing like leaving the set smelling like a cheap bar. We wouldn't have it any other way.

Bruce Willis Gropes Who?
From my new fave website... Gawker:
Gossip Roundup: Bruce Willis Officially A Dirty Old Man
-Our wee sense of decency wants to ignore this, but our sense of duty compells us to trumpet otherwise: BRUCE WILLIS AND LINDSAY LOHAN GROPE EACH OTHER! In case you were wondering, Willis is just shy of 50 and Lohan is 18, which means he's technically old enough to be her father. Twice.
